Hillcrest Manor Homeowners Association Neighborhood Alert
We have formed a Neighborhood Alert system for Hillcrest Manor, the purpose of which is to discourage crime by ensuring that our neighbors are alert to suspicious people or activities. The only way to know who are "suspicious people" is to know who our neighbors are, so we encourage you to meet your neighbors.
If you witness a crime, please call 9-1-1 and then report the crime to our Neighborhood Alert system by calling:
Call 972-606-3460
Even if you are simply suspicious of the activities of one or more persons in the neighborhood, report it. It's better to be safe than sorry. If you see one of our neighborhood alert signs as you enter the subdivision, please be sure to call the same number to listen and learn what has happened to cause us to post the alert.
Protect Yourself...Use Good Homeowner Practices
Avoiding a burglary is a game of odds, but it's a game of skill and planning, as well. The objective is to make your home unattractive to burglars...the objective is to send burglars somewhere else wher the homeowner is not as diligent as you. No matter what you do, you cannot be absolutely certain that you will avoid burglary, but you can take some steps to dramtically reduce the likelihood that burglars will target your home and your possessions. Here are some suggesions
- Put a lock on the gate in your fence; even a low gat is harder to get through if it's locked;
- Put motion detectors outside your home, especially in the back;
- Lock your doors all the time, even when you are home;
- If you have the capability, activate the door chime on your alarm system so it chimes each time a door is opened;
- Never leave your garage door open and unattended (and if you see a neighbor's garage door open, call them or knock on the door to let them know);
- Don't leave valuables in plain sight, especially when the windows are open;
- Close your curtains when you are not at home, especially on the sides of your house and in back;
- Rather than keeping your garage door opener in your car, put it in your purse or in your briefcase, so a thief won't be able to break a window in your vehicle parked outside and use the opener to gain access;
- Have heavy-duty doors and locks installed on main entry doors;
- If you have a security system, make sure all doors and windows are tied in;
- If you have a security systerm, USE IT.
